After a long journey, Jon Hannz has returned to the music scene better, stronger and more profound than ever. His life experiences have given Hannz the tools to create reality rap that touches the soul. His music speaks on a diverse range of topics that were born from his personal struggles and observations along the way.

Hannz’s musical curiosity began at a young age and originated from his father’s love of soul and R&B. In 1993, Jon Hannz joined Long Island rap group, H.H.B. Those early days were influenced by a litany of NY based sounds like the Juice Crew and De La Soul. Hannz performed around NYC, doing shows, learning crowd control and acquiring a passion for music that tells a story.

At 16, Hannz was uprooted from the familiar streets of NYC to Alabama – a land devoid of hip hop. Despite the obvious hurdles facing him, Hannz created his own hip hop scene and generated a strong buzz in the Anniston area. Soon after, he was recruited by NY-based label Official Jointz. From this venture, a group called The Heatseekaz was born in 2000, releasing “I Got Ya Back” and “Just a Lil Bit. Sadly, the events of 9/11 derailed the dreams of Jon Hannz when the Manhattan offices of his label were destroyed. Official Jointz was unable to recover from the tragedy and destruction of that fateful day and Hannz hopes were once again shattered.

Facing the obstacles thrust upon him, Hannz took control of his own musical destiny, producing mix tape after mix tape, like “The Open Door” and “The Bartender”. Show after show throughout the state made him stronger and refined his exceptional ability to turn his personal story into music that reaches and teaches.

Never to be deterred, Hannz has again emerged on the scene with the first release of the mixed tape, “It Ain’t Ova”, using existing trax with original trax produced by Jon Hannz and Williweed. Currently, Hannz is producing and working on the new album “The Lesson”. This time around there’s no label, just an old school production by the undeniable, undefeatable Hannibal Hannz.
